length total with carriage 76 cm.
Bronze, 14 mm cal. barrels shaped as a truncated cone, thickened at the breech, then a section of longitudinal segments with fuller, featuring a heraldic emblem in relief and trunnions in the centre, the final section again with longitudinal segments. Moulded muzzle at the nozzle. Oblong butt plate. Both mounted on a long wooden stock with radial wheels and brass mounts (some missing parts). Barrel length: 42 cm. Rare in such high quality.

Specialist Notes

The coat of arms could belong to Charles of Bourbon-Soissons (1566-1612), military commander during the French Wars of Religion and Lieutenant-General of New France. Provenance: Pierre-Olivier Chanel Collection, Paris, 2008.
