Forged in iron in a single piece and decorated with radiating ribs; the upper part smooth and truncated conical, with a band at the base bearing inscriptions and designs partially damascened in silver, the apex surmounted by a small spike. The base decorated with an engraved band of floral motifs. The brim fixed by three rivets and decorated en suite with the upper section, as is the upper part of the nasal-bar. Old mail neck defence composed of small rings, with a half-loop fastening.
