Information
length 120,7 cm.
Smoothbore, two-stage barrel, octagonal at the first part, round in the second half. 12.2 mm cal (approximately 32 gauge?) at the nozzle, equipped with brass foresight. Partially clean bore, some slight encrustation and perhaps a little pitting at the nozzle. Brass frame, with two iron side plates. Engraved with floral motifs on the sides and back; featuring a crowned Savoy mark repeated on both sides at the base of the barrel. Flared sight at the back. The dorsal and lower tangs are also engraved with racemes. Simple repeating mechanism with lever cocking. Sliding iron bolt, center percussion. Working mechanism, with some uncertainty (sometimes the hammer tends not to remain cocked when the bolt is closed, accompanying it and stopping at the first click). Iron lever featuring perhaps small traces of old browning. Double-action hammer, the first with a working secure-lock at the trigger; the back with openwork. Walnut butt with a small piece reattached, featuring remains of checkering on the neck. Tubular magazine under the barrel and partially integrated with it, half-length. The action for feeding ammunition to the frame is achieved by a spring-loaded iron ramrod (slack but still working. The front section of the magazine, with the ramrod fully retracted, can be rotated to reload the weapon. Two eyelets on the underside of the weapon for the strap. Iron butt plate with some pitting. Some signs of use and time, some mechanical components are "weak", but overall in good condition. The owner has used the dimensions of the internal elements of the bolt to create a non-functioning replica of the cartridge, turned from a block of iron, to obtain a realistic reconstruction of what the complete cartridge must have looked like.
