Made of black felt (possibly rabbit), with a semi-rigid structure. Wide brims turned upwards, edged with silver-thread embroidered stripe. Band worked en suite and edged with threaded rope (missing cockade ). Papal gendarmerie button made of white metal, featuring the Tiara surrounded by the raised inscription “GENDARMERIA PONTIFICIA.” On the sides, silver tassels in twisted cords. With leather sweatband and fabric liner feturing label: “FABBRICA CAPPELLI DI FILIPPO MANCINELLI IN ROMA AL CORSO N.383.” Signs of use and time. Preserved in an old wooden case, with remains of a paper label. Rare.
