Pre-1897 style; leather skull, round visor. Gold mounts, grooved tip on a cross base; front frieze with lion within laurel and oak leaves and "1621" bandeau. Flat chin-straps on both cockades, the Reich one and the one in the colours of Hesse. Inside with leather sweat-band and remains of a burgundy silk cap; very few remains of the owner's name. Rare.
