length 109,5 cm.
Curved, single-and short false-edged blade, with fuller and with a groove next to the back in the central segment. Slight pitting at the tip. Marked "Klingenthal" on the back. At the first part, on the right side, engraved with the inscription "GRENADIERS A CHEVAL" within a cartouche surmounted by the "N" within a wreath which is surmounted by the crowned French imperial eagle. At the bottom a trophy of arms and floral decorations. On the left side "GARDE IMPERIALE", the same Napoleonic frieze and, at the base the inscription "Duc Fourbisseur de la Garde Imperiale / Rue St. Honore en face Celle de la Loi No. 251 a Paris". Remains of gilding. Bronze "garde de bataille" hilt (slightly wobbly) in earlier patina. Short smooth cap of octagonal section. Ebony grip without wire binding, with slight missing parts. Remains of the earlier leather scabbard with obvious signs of use and time. The cap and band with two-lugs are still present, with matching patina on the quillon.
