Original 1930s-style ecoline illustration of Mickey Mouse and Goofy, drawn by Moreno Chiestè, sized 30x21 cm. Moreno Chistè is a key figure in the Italian Disney scene, best known for revolutionizing the concept of coloring and digital post-production of comics between the late 1980s and early 2000s. Before the digital age, color in comics was often flat and limited. Chistè was a pioneer in the introduction of advanced coloring techniques. He was able to give each story a specific chromatic identity, making the settings (from the foggy Mouse Town to the Duckburg jungle) vivid and engaging. Moreno Chistè colored countless iconic Mickey Mouse covers and magazines such as Disney Mega and Paperinik. His chromatic signature was synonymous with modernity and quality, raising the visual standards of Disney Italy to international levels. Beyond his practical work, Chistè was a role model for many young artists. He helped codify the transition from hand coloring (with classic ecoline or pantone) to digital coloring (Photoshop), teaching how to maintain the soul of the original drawing while exploiting new technologies.
