Information
Gabriel Batistuta's autographed card wearing a Fiorentina jersey from the 2019/2020 Panini Chronicles series. Gabriel Omar Batistuta (born 1969) is a former Argentine footballer, widely recognized as one of the greatest center forwards of his generation. Nicknamed "Batigol" for his incredible goalscoring prolificness and "King Lion" for his flowing hair and power, he is an icon of world football. His career is inextricably linked to Fiorentina, the club he played for from 1991 to 2000, becoming their all-time top scorer in Serie A. Despite the fans' love and his loyalty, his dream of winning the Scudetto with the Viola jersey never came true. He achieved the title in Italy only in 2001, in his first season with Roma, a transfer that caused a sensation at the time. With the Argentina national team, he won the Copa América twice (1991 and 1993) and was for years the top scorer in the history of the Albiceleste (later surpassed by Messi). He still holds a unique World Cup record: he is the only player to have scored two hat-tricks in two different editions of the tournament.
