Created in 2016 to celebrate the second DTM title won by the Munich-based company, with the German driver Marco Wittmann. The M4 DTM Champion Edition is a concentrate of power and sportiness derived from BMW's racing experience and it was built in only 200 road-legal units. The engine, deriving from the M4 GTS, develops 500 hp, with a power increase of 16%. The inline six-cylinder engine is able to push the M4 DTM Champion Edition up to 305 km/h, going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The racing-derivated suspensions are mechanically adjustable in three positions, both for suspension and damping, thus allowing the driver to adapt the car to his own driving style. The color for all the 200 units is “Alpine White” adorned with the now familiar BMW M stripes in three colors, a sure reference to the history of the German brand in competitions. Several body parts including the bonnet, the roof, the instrument panel support, and the rear diffuser were made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to reduce the weight of the car. Looking at the car, you immediately notice numerous carbon components in pure “racing style”: the front splitter, the aero flick in front of the front wheel arches, the shells of the external mirrors, the side skirts, the rear diffuser and the large rear wing have been made of the precious ultralight material. Also the double sports exhaust system has been revised and custom made for the M4 DTM Champion Edition, with two pairs of titanium ending. The 19" rims were custom created and are specific for the M4 Champion Edition, with a star design and painted in “Orbit Gray matt”. Inside: the carbon-ceramic brakes, another technologic item from the races. The passenger compartment reflects the character of sports with no compromise of the M4 Champion Edition with a white roll-bar that takes the place of the rear seats, the two front bucket seats have a carbon shell covered with an exclusive combination of Alcantara and Merino leather, the racing 4-point safety belts and the door panels in visible carbon fiber, while the rest of the passenger compartment is lined in grey Alcantara. The car, despite looking ready for the track, is equipped like similar BMW cars, without neglecting safety and comfort. On board we find the BMW navigation system, air conditioning, adaptive LED headlamps with assistance for high beams’ use, the OLed taillights, the front and rear parking sensors, as well as the automatically anti-glare internal and external mirrors.
