The first icon is set in a landscape with the Cathedral of the Dormition, surmounted by a Deesis including the Archangel Gabriel, Saint John the Baptist, Christ Pantocrator, the Virgin Mary, and the Archangel Michael. The second depicts the “Twelve Feasts” in separate panels arranged around the central dominant scene of the Resurrection of Christ and the Descent into Hades.
