this iconography refers to the dogma of the Incarnation of the Word. The Virgin is shown with raised hands in an orant posture; at the center, between chest and womb, appears a large golden medallion — a symbol of divine light — enclosing the unborn Emmanuel, clothed and blessing. The features of Christ are not those of an infant, but of a wise youth: his right hand raised in blessing, his left holding the sealed scroll of the Scriptures.
