An attribution to Francesco Peresi (circa 1681-1743) has been suggested for the work, a name that could correctly reveal the identity of the artist who signs with the initials FP, present at the bottom right . He is certainly a painter active in Naples in the first half of the 18th century, stylistically similar to both the manner of Paolo De Matteis and the early production of Sebastiano Conca.
