The painting, datable to the 1630s, finds close comparisons with other works by Pacecco, also executed in collaboration with his stepfather Filippo Vitale: see for example the San Nicola di Bari preserved in the small sacristy of the Certosa di San Martino in Naples, where we find the same figure of the boy, and the other depictions of San Biagio drawn by the painter in those years, in particular the one in Naples, Church of Sant'Anna di Palazzo. In the painting offered in this lot, as in the works cited, Pacecco's stylistic figure is recognizable, in which the strong chiaroscuro contrasts of naturalistic and Caravaggio-esque matrix are combined with the richness of the fabrics and precious details, enhanced by bright and enameled colors.
