This Crucifixion appears to rework, in an easel-mounted format typical of private devotion, Marco Pino's Calvary , preserved at El Escorial (see A. Zezza, Marco Pino. L'opera completa , Naples 2003, essay A.11, p. 290 ill.). Particularly similar between the two works is the slender and elongated figure of Christ on the cross, as the massive and schematic layout of the town in the background.
