Specialist Notes
The manuscript recounts the tragic and romantic vicissitudes of royal and noble Neapolitan families, which occurred between 1443 and approximately 1688. Some Neapolitan scholars have mistakenly attributed the work's authorship to Domenico Confuorto, alias Domenico Conforti, author of the "Giornali di Napoli" from 1679 to 1690, which contains many of the events reported in the "Manoscritti Corona." Other mysteries concern the quantity and content of the work: it is not known whether they are all authentic or whether they were reworked by multiple people, since even the titles vary, and the text was gradually modified, even in its narratives, by various copyists and authors attracted by the intriguing stories narrated.
