Information
Brescia, [formerly Typographia Britannica], 1624. In 2°. Coat of arms of Val Camonica engraved in wood on the title page by Veronica Fontana, woodcut decorations, some light stains and traces of humidity, 20th century half-parchment binding, gold title within a tag on the spine.
Specialist Notes
This is a rare first printed edition of this collection of Val Camonica statutes, a fundamental document on the law and social life of this part of Lombardy (at the time this volume went to press, Val Camonica was part of the Serenissima Republic, and remained so until 1797). The Val Camonica coat of arms was created by the famous Parma engraver Veronica Fontana (Parma, 1651 – Bologna, 1690).
