Specialist Notes
Original edition of this extensive and extremely rare pharmacopoeia intended for the practice of Sienese apothecaries, presented here with an engraved plate depicting a still and chemical instruments, often missing from known examples. The work was compiled by Giovanni Domenico Olmi on behalf of the Medical College of Siena and is part of the professional tradition led by Giacinto Marchi, former Master Apothecary of the Royal Great Hospital. Considered the last great prescriptive repertoire of the pre-revolutionary era, it is an essential source for the study of Italian pharmaceutical culture in the second half of the 18th century.
