Specialist Notes
Poesia is one of the most important Italian literary magazines of the early twentieth century and represents the main intellectual laboratory from which Futurism took shape.
Conceived and edited by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, with covers illustrated by Alberto Martini, the magazine was founded with the stated ambition of "deprovincializing" Italian poetic culture, opening it up to direct engagement with the most advanced experiences in European and international literature. In its final issues, published until 1909, Poesia became the privileged forum for developing the ideas that would culminate in the Futurist Manifesto.
