The Dodge WC-52 Weapons Carrier is one of the most iconic military vehicles of World War II, often nicknamed the "Beep" (short for "Big Jeep") by American soldiers for its ruggedness and superior size compared to the Willys Jeep.
Born out of the U.S. Army's need for a more versatile and powerful transport vehicle than the previous 1/2 ton models, the WC-52 is part of the 3/4 ton G-502 series introduced in late 1941.
Between 1942 and 1945, Dodge (a division of Chrysler) produced approximately 59,114 units of this specific model.
The WC-52 was a true workhorse on all fronts of the conflict, from the beaches of Normandy to the forests of the Ardennes.
It was used for the transport of weapons, ammunition, troops (up to 10 equipped soldiers) and as a tow for light artillery.
At the end of the Second World War, many examples remained in active service until the Korean War or were adopted by numerous European armies (including the French and Danish ones) in post-war reconstructions.
