Specialist Notes
Designed as Europe’s answer to the fastback ‘pony cars’ that enjoyed wild success in the United States, the Ford Capri was produced between 1968 and 1986, across three generations and in a plethora of configurations. Marketed by Ford as “The car you always promised yourself” the Capri was intended to appeal to as many markets as possible, with everything from a 1.3-litre inline-four engine up to a 3.1-litre V6. Our car, registered in 1972 in Como, is equipped with a 140 HP V6 3000. In 1971 Ford updated the model with newer and more comfortable suspensions, enlarged rear lights, new seats, while the GXL version also had quad headlights with separate indicators. The car is perfectly restored: the engine, dismantled and overhauled, like all the mechanics; shock absorbers replaced, braking system redone. The bodywork has been repainted.
