Specialist Notes

In 1933 Fiat introduced on the 508 model, the sporting version 508 S Balilla Sport, with a lighter and pleasant spider body; it soon became one of the cars to dream for the younger generation. FIAT purchased the rights by Ghia, which originally designed it, manufacturing two versions: the standard one had fully enclosed fenders. The engine was also uprated. This model won the Coppa d’Oro del Littorio race, earning it the nickname “Coppa d’Oro”. This (believed to be) Matching Numbers specimen was found in 2011 in the Georgia countryside (USA), as a real barnfind, after being stored for about 40 years; it was in condition for a demanding restoration, but complete. The story of its early years is still to be clarified, but one can assume a beginning in Italy, noting the RACI (Regio Automobile Club Italiano) badge dated 1938, on the steering wheel. Transferred to Italy in the same 2011, it was completely restored in all its parts, in two tones of red, with black interiors. Restored in mechanics by Noci Motor Classic. The engine is fitted with a special S.I.A.T.A. head. Papers are in order; a request for a CRS ASI has been made in order to proceed with the registration.
