Information
Rome, for Valerio Dorico and Luigi, brothers, at the request of Carlo Gualteruzzi, in the month of October 1548. In 4°, 228 x 155 mm. A beautiful copy with wide margins, with only slight foxing, modern binding executed in pure Venetian Renaissance style.
Specialist Notes
Valuable third edition of the Rime (first Venice, Sabbio, 1530) edited by Carlo Gualteruzzi and revised by Annibal Caro.
This rare edition is enriched by a series of unpublished rhymes, as they were not approved by Bembo: inserted separately from the original text, they are preceded by a notice, probably from the publisher (p. 165). In the same year, 1548, two editions of Giolito also appeared in Venice; curiously, all three 1548 editions reproduce, with variations, the last verse of "La mia fatal nemica." Gamba 141: "A truly beautiful edition and one to be held in high esteem." Adams B-504. BMC 81.
