Author's portrait engraved on copper on the frontispiece, brand with motto on the title page, woodcut figured headpieces, initials, and tailpieces, wide margins, some foxing, slight damp staining on the first leaves, some quires slightly loose, contemporary hardback binding, handwritten title on the spine, some tears on the spine, defects.
Specialist Notes
Alamanni's Coltivazione, in six books of blank hendecasyllables, was his best-known work and is considered a model of elegance and classicist decorum for 18th-century writers. This beautiful and accurate edition is printed on strong paper and embellished with a fine intaglio portrait of the author and graceful woodcut decorations.
