Information

Venice, printed by Giambatista Albrizzi q. Girol., 1745. In 2°, 466 x 320 mm. Title page printed in red and black, copperplate vignette on the title page depicting an allegory of the city of Venice, portrait of Maria Teresa 'young' drawn by Piazzetta and engraved by Polanzani, each canto (20) preceded by a superb table paper with coat of arms and dedication to each different character, 20 head vignettes enclosing the Subject of the Cantos resting on rococo brackets, 20 culs-de-lampe (of which 6 are full page), 21 historiated initials, PERFECT AND VERY FRESH COPY of the first edition, genuine, easily distinguishable from the forgery now attributed to Zatta. Original cardboard, manuscript title on the spine, chemise in half red morocco and case.
Provenance: DVA Platzaert (18th century); "The Marquis of Livorno" (late 18th century).
