Specialist Notes

There is no information about the life of Pausanias. It is believed that he was born in Magnesia on the Sipylion in Asia Minor, the year and place of his death are unknown. This work remains of him, written around 180 AD, which offers valuable descriptive and informative material for the history of the artistic heritage of Greece, material enriched by minute information on local cults, civil and religious festivals, customs, mythology, etc.
