Information
Florence, Pietro Matini, 1685. In 4°. Cruscante frullone on the title page, chalcographic headpieces and tailpieces, splendid full red morocco binding with mosaic on the covers depicting a grape shoot in green, brown and purple, inside the back cover a frame with 5 gold fillets. Ex libris by Piero Andrea Forzoni Accolti (1639-1719), under the buttonhole the handwritten indication: "Donated by the Author".
Specialist Notes
Splendid example of this classic Dithyramb, a masterpiece by Redi . Here is a dedicated example donated by the author to the Arcadian poet Piero Andrea Forzoni Accolti. He was Secretary of Latin Letters to Cardinal Francesco Maria de' Medici in Rome and then to Cosimo III; aide to the Grand Ducal chamber. Member of the Arcadia (1691) and of the Florentine Academy, of which he was consul in 1708. Academician of the Crusca from 1682, with the academic name of Sincero.
