Information
Basileae, apud Ioan, Hervagium, 1564. Folio, illustrated woodcut frontispiece, two parts in one volume, 1 leaf with printer's device on the back. An important and rare work, first published in Strasbourg in 1538, which replaced the late medieval "Vocabularius utriusque juris".
Specialist Notes
Jacob Spiegel, nephew of Wimphelings, belonged to the circle of Alsatian humanists. The woodcut illustration on the frontispiece depicts a decorated "Justinian column" with the title scroll hanging above, teachers below and students.
