Specialist Notes
The Treatise is written in the flowing vernacular of the fourteenth century, with the hymn to Charity borrowed from St. Paul and from a thousand examples of practical and daily life: there is no lack of recipes against swelling, liver care, atmospheric phenomena such as snow, hail, lightning, all aimed and intended to explain the beauty and necessity of "Charita" in Christian life.
