Typographical devices on the title page, on page 1 and on the last page, two with the name Aldo and one with Aldus. a double-page woodcut depicting Hell, a double-page classification of sins in Hell and a full-page classification of sins in Purgatory. some pages with wormholes, partly restored. 19th-century calf binding. Spine with five raised bands. Red edges. Front cover bearing the ex libris "Daniel Giles" on the back cover.

Specialist Notes

Famous second Aldine edition of the text of the Comedy, considered by bibliographers to be even rarer than the first edition of 1502 edited by Bembo.
