Information

Specialist Notes
Rare edition of The Flying Eagle, attributed in ancient times to the famous humanist L. Bruni and whose authorship remains controversial. It is a large "eagle's eye" compendium, according to Dante's symbolism relating to Justinian (Pd. VI), of the history of the world starting from its mythical origins, a reworked version of the Fiorita of Italy by Guido da Pisa. The work is largely built on references and quotations from Dante's Divine Comedy, which provides a real textual substrate; the other fundamental literary model is Virgil's Aeneid.
