Specialist Notes
Rare first edition of one of the first treatises in French dedicated to platinum, a precious metal discovered in Peru by the astronomer and military officer Antonio de Ulloa (1716-1795) and described for the first time to the Royal Society by W. Watson, while Charles Wood independently isolated the element in 1741.
