Intaglio frontispiece, bearing at the bottom: "Io. Ang. Caninius inventor et del. Rom., C. Bloemaert sculp. Romae",  the second part begins on p. 153. Third part, of the second volume, drop caps, finials, in the text hundreds of portraits engraved in wood  within graceful frames, 2 frontispieces missing, burnishing and halos, rear parchment binding.

Specialist Notes

Third edition, and the second illustrated, of the famous work by Vasari, modeled on the text of the second edition printed in 1568, of which he also reproduces the woodcut portraits. The curator of the edition was Carlo Monalessi who managed to acquire the original woodcuts.
