Specialist Notes
This is the most important treatise on the game of Florentine football, published for the wedding of Ferdinando prince of Tuscany and Violante Beatrice of Bavaria. Vinciana I,127: “It is known that the game of football described corresponds to that merry party that the Greeks called Spheromachia and the Latins Arpasto”.
