Specialist Notes
First edition. The text, published anonymously, was considered particularly scandalous, so much so that there were several unsuccessful attempts to put it on the Index. The author demonstrated how even the fairer sex was led to the study of disciplines considered more "serious" such as philosophy, but also physics and theology, contravening the common sense which saw women unable to deal with such subjects and therefore relegated to very "lighter".
