Genoa, Giuseppe Pavoni, 1617. In 2nd. Portrait of Carlo Emanuele di Savoia on the frontispiece as a frontispiece engraved on copper, portrait of the author on the architectural frontispiece engraved on copper, 20 full-page engraved illustrations at the opening of each canto, headers, drop caps, woodcut frames and finials, sporadic foxing, missing leaf +4, restorations to the plates in canto IV, reddening, coeval parchment binding, title in gold within a red label on the spine, small gap on the hinge.

Famous edition of the heroic-chivalric poem, printed for the first time incompletely in 1580 in Venice, illustrated by the famous 20 full-page figures by Bernardo Castello, each in a figured frame, each different from the other. In the preliminary papers, verses by Tasso and other poets. In the appendix, the annotations by Gentili and Guastavini, which appeared for the first time together with the poem in the first edition edited by Castello (Genoa, Bartoli, 1590). leg,948; Brunet, V, 666; Graesse, VII, 33; Choix de Olschki, XII, 18727; Cicognara, 1113: "The drawings of the Castle itself are different and no less valuable than those used for the 1590 edition" - Cat.
