Splendid allegorical engraved title page and 38 superb illustrations, engraved on copper in the text, by span> Cesare Bassano, who worked on the drawings of the Lombard painter Carlo Antonio Procaccini, burnished frontispiece, some papers with marginal tears, a c.D tear affecting the image but without lacks, no binding, only the back cardboard is present .
Specialist Notes
SECOND EDITION of one of the most successful texts of 17th century theatrical publishing. Originally published in 1613, it is here substantially re-imprinted with minor variations. Salvioli considers it "the composition that can be called the dramatic masterpiece of the seventeenth century"; the text was also a primary source of inspiration for Milton's Paradise Lost .
