Florence, Lorenzo Torrentino, 1549-50. In 8°. 2 parts in 1 volume. Medici coat of arms on the title pages, decorated woodcut initials, light staining on the outer margin of the first leaves, some rare foxing, semi-leather and decorated paper binding on the back, gilt title within a tag on the smooth spine.
Specialist Notes
A rare edition printed by Torrentino, containing a commentary on Orlando Furioso by Simone Fornari, philosopher, writer, and poet in the vernacular. Born in Reggio Calabria in the early 16th century and died around 1560, Fornari was a Carthusian monk who lived for a long time in Tuscany, particularly in Pisa.
