Printer's device on the first title page, small view of Brescia on the second, both woodcut, woodcut initials and decorations, some handwritten notes, missing h2 paper replaced with handwritten paper, some minor restorations, some light and small stains, some wormholes on the first and last leaves, 21st-century binding of half parchment and decorated paper, gilt title on the spine. On the back cover, a paper bookplate by Guido Bustico and a paper insert from the historic Legatoria Sociale of Milan.
Specialist Notes
Rare second edition, expanded with Bernardino Faino's Ragguaglio. This is a work of great value for the history of Brescia, including an interesting chapter dedicated to the deities anciently worshipped in the city. The second part, added in this edition, is a valuable historical and genealogical source, collecting information and deeds of Brescia's most illustrious citizens, from its legendary origins to 1516, and concluding with a list of the city's rulers until 1658, when Brescia was still under Venetian rule.
