Specialist Notes
Third and definitive edition of Giambattista Vico's (1668-1744) Scienza Nuova, published posthumously by his son Gennaro. After the 1725 and 1730 versions, Vico undertook a thorough revision of the work in 1736, which he enriched with notes and commentaries until the night of his death. This edition represents the most mature synthesis of Vico's thought. In it, the philosopher elaborates a cyclical vision of history, divided into the divine, heroic, and human ages.
