Famous writing by Ficino in which he investigates the causes and remedies against the plague, a «poisonous vapour created in the air, enemy of the vital spirit», among whose causes the italorum medicorum optimus - as Paracelsus defined it - includes first and foremost astral influence: the epidemic would originate from the malignant conjunction of Mars and Saturn and the pestilence «mostly offends men, and places whose ascendants are unfortunate because of the said constellations».
