Specialist Notes
Attilio Zuccagni Orlandini was a geographer and statistician, born in Fiesole in July 1784, and died in Florence on 25 November 1872. From the first Atlas centred on Tuscany (1828-32), he moved on to the idea of extending his graphic and descriptive illustration to the whole of Italy within its natural borders, a work whose publication he announced in 1835 and which was completed in 1845. The work, which bears the title Historical and statistical physical chorography of Italy and its islands, consists of 19 volumes and a large atlas in 5 volumes in folio maximum, presented here.
