Specialist Notes
The most famous work of Pierre-Joseph Bernard (Grenoble 1708 - Choisy-le-Roi 1775), poet and writer belonging to the group of "petits poètes". A collection of erotic and voluptuous passages that the author loved to read at court and in Parisian salons. For the elegance of the erotic verses he earned the nickname of "Gentil Bernard" given to him by Voltaire in a famous letter published on the back of the title page in which & nbsp; L'Art d'Aimer & nbsp; is defined " unique ouvrage ". The collection was published in 1775, the same year as the author's death, after about thirty years after the remarkable success that his "spicy" performances had, and was harshly blamed as an obscene work.
