Specialist Notes

Second expanded edition of this fundamental Renaissance treatise on women's diseases and child birth. & Nbsp; The work was intended to provide practical advice on obstetrics and gynecology; however, while only the third book is devoted to the discussion of topics such as pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium, ample space ends up occupying the discussion on marriage and procreation. The first book, in fact, appears to focus on the phases preceding the wedding, and in particular on the measures useful for the harmony and good assortment of the couple; while the second examines aspects and problems of married life, paying special attention to disorders related to sexuality and both male and female impotence. It was written in the vernacular, in vindication of the right and duty of the man of science to address a wide audience.
