Information

Lucca, Giambattista Novelli, 1758. 2 vols. In 8th. Two figured front doors engraved in copper, many sheets still closed, blooms, coeval binding in rustic-style hardcover, on one spine the handwritten title, slight traces of dust.
The work deals with mystical, magical and astronomical themes referring to a series of books that dealt with them previously. We try to dispel the fascination of witch demons, sabbaths, werewolves, elves and ghosts, comets, spells, tarot cards. Bordelon - abbot, theologian and playwright - supports the scientific method, the only one capable of defeating the incredible false beliefs and superstitions that populated the world of medicine and pharmacy. His work, published in Paris in 1710, was later translated into Italian and printed first in Venice and then in Lucca.
