3 plates taken from Venationes Ferarum, avium, piscium, pugnae bestiarum, Antwerp, Philips Galle excudit, 1580-1596. (mm 232 x316): "Sic ferus exardet in circus taurus aperto - Cum sua terrible petit iritamina cornu"; "Sic Autumnali capitur peregrina Coturnix Tempore, et excipulis effundit sibila linguis"; Intentus merulis Auceps, sic retia tendit Cauta die, ac noctu candelae lumine fallit" each with caption, one with the Author's signature in the plate, light browning, slight foxing, small tear without loss on the upper white margin of an engraving.
Specialist Notes
The work was published for the first time in 1578-1580 with 43 unnumbered plates dedicated to Cosimo de Medici. It was subsequently enriched with further plates engraved by Adriaen Collaert, Jan Collaert, Charles Galle I and Carel de Mallery and published in Antwerp in 1596.
