Rome, Alessandro Monaldi, 1841. In 2°. With 13 plates at the end of the volume, some light foxing, bound in green half morocco and marbled paper, title and decoration in gold on the smooth spine, some very slight defects.

First edition, dedicated to Cardinal Giacomo Giustiniani, of this important study on 19th-century archaeological research conducted in the area of present-day Cerveteri. The author, Luigi Grifi (Rome, 1799–1880), served as Administrator of Fine Arts and Antiquities in Rome from 1831 to 1875.
