The model
The 924 is the result of an agreement between Porsche and Volkswagen-Audi, which saved the Stuttgart house from the financial crisis in which it found itself in the 70s. The idea was to create a model that would replace the 914 and be able to enter the two-liter sports car segment. The 924 was a sales success that resolved the financial crisis of the parent company; infact, as early as 1978, only two years after the launch, the production rate of the 924 was 100 vehicles per day. Designed by the Dutch Harm Lagaay, with a very essential and aerodynamic line, it had retractable headlights, polyurethane bumpers and glass rear window. Mechanically the 924 is the first Porsche with the engine positioned at the front; the engine is a 4 cylinder with Bosch K-Jetronic injection of Audi-VW derivation (VW EA 831), which delivers 125 hp. The 924 has the so-called transaxle scheme, with the engine in the front and with the clutch-gearbox and differential group positioned on the rear axle; the gearbox is a 4-speed manual derived from Audi, flanked in 1977 by an automatic one, while the 5-speed manual is available as an option. The braking system is of the mixed type, with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear, which guarantees good braking thanks to the not excessive mass. Simple materials such as soft polyurethane and carpet are chosen to cover the passenger compartment, but the degree of interior finish is higher than other sports cars in the same segment; the trunk, which is accessed by opening the rear window, offers a small space for luggage. Over the years, the 924 will undergo slight changes; with the M471 option you can request a car with the same chassis as the Turbo model. Special versions are created: the Turbo in 1978 and the S, presented in 1985. Final production stands at 121,289. Between 1980 and 81 the apex of the 924 design evolution was reached with 4 limited edition versions: CARRERA GT, GTS, GTR and Le Mans GTP.
The car
The Porsche 924, chassis no. WP0ZZZ92ZFN402952, was built in 1985 and has had two owners; the marked kilometers are 67,444 km and it is accompanied by a Porsche certificate of origin. It comes from the cars chosen for the Saottini Collection. On the occasion of an event in Desenzano del Garda focused on the styles and decades of history of the Stuttgart house, the car was painted by the Italian artist Stefano Adamo, author of magazine covers and marketing campaigns for the likes of Coez, Massimo Danger, Frah Quintale and many others. The  refined and sometimes extreme style of Adam had attracted the attention of some fashion brands: over time he worked with established brands such as C.P. Company and Church's, but also with younger and more eye-catching brands such as Marcelo Burlon and MSGM. The car's paintwork is also visible on a video available on Youtube. The car is excellently preserved and thanks to this particular livery it is unique.
