The box measures approximately 90 x 60 mm, with a slight loss of leather at the bottom; each oval element of the cufflinks measures approximately 25 x 15 mm. The cufflinks are hallmarked 800 silver. In excellent condition, with perfect enamels.

The greyhound was d'Annunzio's quintessential animal symbol: the poet-seer was passionate about these elegant and swift racing dogs, which he associated with the values of nobility, speed, and beauty that permeate all his work. He owned dozens of them, even during the war and the epic battle of Fiume. Many of them are buried in the gardens of the Vittoriale degli Italiani, and d'Annunzio celebrates them in the poem " Here lie my dogs ."
