The Boracifera di Larderello Company was founded in 1818 by Marquis François de Larderel, exploiting the boric fumaroles of Tuscany (Pomarance, now Larderello, in the province of Pisa). The company extracted boric acid and boron derivatives, including the famous Talco Sanitia, used for personal hygiene and medical purposes.
