Non si dipinge nel modo in cui qualcuno, che osserva la tua vita, pensa che tu debba dipingere; si dipinge nel modo necessario per poter dare, e questa è vita, anche se qualcuno guardando dirà che è il risultato di uno studio consapevole. Ma lo studio non c’entra, c’entra il dare. Quanto riguarda lo studio sarà sbagliato. Quando uno ha finito di dare, l’aspetto dell’opera sorprende il pittore come chiunque altro.
